Community Care Ministries

Te Hahi is an arrangement between the NZ Police and churches in our city. We respond to referrals from police to assist victims of domestic harm and other referrals. We also support the police by giving them home baking and morning/afternoon tea once a week. There are 10 churches in Porirua involved in this ministry.

This ministry gives away free bread obtained fresh from woolworths each Saturday morning. Other food items are sometimes also available.

Freedom church is focused on repeating the ministries that Jesus did when he was on earth. This is stated in John 14:12: "Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father."

Healing and deliverance were major elements of Jesus ministry so this is reflected in our ministries.

Christians Against Poverty, is a Christian organisation based in Auckland. It is a free confidential service that is offered to anyone in the community. It brings hope to those that are burdened with debt and works alongside them to become debt free. The local centre in Porirua is based at Freedom Church with Kelly Macdonald as the Centre Manager.

As a church we give away ten percent of our tithes and offerings to mission activities. In recent years a major focus has been into Myanmar to support the activities of the House of Grace Church and orphanage. This involved us in funding the purchase of a rice field to enable them to grow their own staple - rice. House of Grace also has served church planting sites in Yangon, some of which we are supporting.

This is a very effective ministry to spiritually cleanse and bless people's homes. Some just want to have their house cleansed and blessed when they move house. This is service is available to anyone in the community.
